     Accoring to Bill Momsen, the 194th Ordnance Detachment was transferred from the San Francisco, California area to Fort Richardson, Alaska in December 1958.   Bill also says "there was a unit set to go to alaska - winterized trucks, parkas, mickey mouse boots, etc., but they were sent to the far east when the Quemoy/Matsu fighting broke out. And we were sent to Alaska - no winter gear, etc."
     George Wallot also says "The 194th Ord Det was transferred to Ft Richardson about 1959. I served there and later it changed to 524th Ord Co. There was a lot of history involved in this move for they established the Nike system in Anchorage Alaska area.
